What is“الإقلاب“ “Iqlab”(Flipping) (meaning? And what is Iqlab in Tajweed, what is Iqlab only letter?

When you usually listen to the Noble Qur’an recitation, delighted with the reciter’s voice, but his pronunciation sometimes stops you when reciting God’sthe Almighty saying:“ He said, “وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ”  “waAllahuAAaleemunbithatialssudoori”(And God is All-Knowing of the heart’s heart .) where you notice the nun is pronounced (a meem) in”عليمٌ” AAaleem”(All-Knowing),  for sure you have good hearing, and when you try to understand why that happened, you are right, my honorable brother, the ayah that you listen to is actually correct and there is Iqlabin the ayah which is a rule in Tajweed.

 What is Iqlab in language?

Iqlab linguistically: Tahweel Al-shay’ ‘an wajh (Flipping); it is the transformation of something, its alteration, and its changing from its face, such as turning a thing from its face so that it is on its back, and here in our topic we are talking about turning a letter into another letter or turning a movement by letter.

Iqlabidiomatically: it is the inversion of the sakinah nun or the tanweenmeem.Iqlab has only one letter, and it is (baa), so if the baa occurs afterْن°)the nun consonant(, whether in a word or two, if the nun consonant is the last of the word, and the baa is the first of the second word or after the tanween, and it is only from two words – then the consonant nun or Tanween must be changed into (a meem)(in pronunciation not drawing), then hide this meem into the baa with the Ghunnah.

Here, we are theoretically talking about  Iqlab in Tajweed when reading the Holy Qur’an that may seem a little bit difficult for you, so let’s apply it to make it easier.

Why do we change the nun sakinah and tanweeninto a meem and not another letter?

Because:

1-The meem shares the baa in the exit (Just try pronouncing each letter and watch your lips).

2-The meemshares the nun in the Ghunnah. (And try the meem pronunciation and the meem with the Ghunnah pronunciation).

Let’s read the Almighty’s saying: {He said, قَالَ يَٰٓـَٔادَمُأَنۢبِئْهُمبِأَسْمَآئِهِمْ”…}

“Qalayaadamuanbihumbiasmaihim”(O Adam! Inform them of their names)

Read again the word: “أَنۢبِئْهُم”“anbihum” (inform them)

And continue reading this phrase: “فَلَمَّآأَنۢبَأَهُم ” “falammaanbaahum” (when he had informed them)

Think of above ayahand then let’s read this verse:    “”أُولَٰئِكَ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً مِّنَ الَّذِينَ أَنفَقُوا مِن بَعْدُ وَقَاتَلُو

” olaikaaAAthamudarajatan mina allatheenaanfaqoo min baAAduwaqataloo(those of the greatest degree of those who spent after and fought).

Read again this phrase:    “ مِن بَعْدُ” “ mimbaAAdu” (after)

Then let’s read this verse:.. “وَأَسِرُّواْ قَوْلَكُمْ أَوِ ٱجْهَرُواْبِهِۦٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥعَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ”

“WaasirrooqawlakumawiijharoobihiinnahuAAaleemunbithatiassudoor”(And conceal your speech or speak it out loud, for He is All-Knowing of the essence of the breasts).

Read again this phrase: “عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ””AAaleemunbithat “(All-Knowing of the essence).

And read also this verse:”كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢابِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ”

“Kalla la-in lam yantahilanasfaAAanbinnasiya”(No, if he does not finish, we will burn at the corner ).

Read again and focus on:” لَنَسْفَعًۢابِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ” “lanasfaAAanbinnasiya”(we will burn at the corner )

What is common in this verses’placesin the Holy Book of God?

It is the Iqlabrule, my honorable brother, where the baa came after the nun sakinahin one word as :

In verse No.1: we turned the nun into a meme, taking into account the Ghunnah, keeping the lips together, and concealing the nun, without exaggeration.

And In verse No.2: the baa came after the nun sakinah, in two separate words.

In  verse No.3 : the baa came after the tanween.

And in verse No.4:the baa came after the light emphatic nun, expressed here graphically with the tanween) “لنسفعَنlanasfaAAann,لنسفعًا” “lanasfaAAan ( (we will burn) .

Why is the Iqlab rule? Or what is the main reason for Iqlab?

Imagine that you would like to pronounce the letters mentioned above as they are, without changing (Iqlab), trying to come up with the nun, tanween and Hannah, with إظهار(Izhar)  (to make something clear), and then try to close your lips in the letter baa, and the difficulty of idghaamas well, so by (Iqlab) you set the facilitation among all these letters’ exits, and the saying is shown in إخفاء(Ikhfa)( concealment), and the (Iqlab) of the nun sakinah, light nun and tanweenmeem.

Based on this, along with reading thisIqlab ruling, you are also required to review it a knowledgeable sheikh who gotإجازة(an ijazah)(an authorization) in the science of Tajweedin the Book of God Almighty and recite it to make it correct for you.
