Islamic History (التاريخ الإسلامي)
Our Islamic history extends back since the beginning of times with the story of creation, to the point when Prophet Adam (PBUH) descended to earth to the time when our beloved Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and his companions established an Umaah based on faith, equality and justice.
The history and origin of Islam represent a crucial building block of any Muslim’s education. An online course in Islam history helps students understand why Islam appealed to such a great variety of people, why the religion spread quickly, and why it facilitated some of the most advanced thinking and discovery of its era.
Islamic history — and especially Islamic history for kids — provides context for contemporary questions about faith and leadership. By studying the role of the prophets, their sahabah, the caliphs and the sultans, Muslims can become familiar with the men, women and even children who have influenced their religion and culture. In Western society, it is typical for students to receive little or no instruction on Islamic history prior to attending university classes. This leaves both Muslims and non-Muslims with little more than a passing understanding of the great civilizations built upon the holy cities of Mecca and Medina — and later Damascus, Cairo and Baghdad. Worse, it leaves Muslims without a deeper understanding of the great issues and questions of their faith — such as the Sunni-Shia schism or the secularization of contemporary Islam. That’s why IQRA offers a comprehensive Islam history study course online.
